Bobby Bassi
Bobby Bassi is a founding partner of BASSI & KARIMJEE LLP. Bobby specializes in a full range of tax compliance and advisory services for small and medium-sized entrepreneurial companies and their owners, professionals, executives and NPO’s. He currently assists the Board of Directors of NPO’s by providing accounting/assurance and tax advice on a volunteer basis. He is an expert on tax and compliance issues surrounding NPO’s and has spearheaded voluntary disclosure issues with CRA.
Bobby has extensive experience in providing assurance and advisory services, comprehensive tax and financial planning for businesses and individuals. He has also assisted clients with estate planning, reorganizations, mergers/acquisitions, initial public offerings, and debt/equity financing.
Bobby received his CA designation in 2009, he has over 15 years experience. He started his career with KPMG where he led audit teams in the financial services sector, performing audits of tier one Canadian Chartered Banks. He then moved to the tax department at KPMG where he assisted many corporations with Initial Public Offerings (IPO), tax and estate planning, compliance with CRA and other regulatory bodies. He has also completed the CPA Canada’ In-Depth Tax Course. Prior to becoming a founding partner of BASSI & KARIMJEE LLP he worked in small and medium size accounting firms across Audit, Tax, and Consulting services.
Joozer Karimjee
Joozer Karimjee is a founding partner at BASSI & KARIMJEE LLP, he has more than 20 years of extensive work experience. He specializes in a full range of assurance and advisory services for privately held businesses, multinational companies, NPO’s and charities. He is experienced in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), US and Canadian GAAP. Joozer is a leader in providing accounting conversion from local GAAPs to IFRS and Private Enterprise GAAP. He has led training for more than 20 CFO’s of publicly traded companies in Canada. He is also a part-time practice inspector at Chartered Accountants of Ontario (CPA Ontario).
Joozer has significant experience in audits in the Not-For-Profit industry. He has led several teams for year-end audits. His first-hand experience in this industry will ensure our team will have a very low learning curve and be able to complete the audit smoothly. This will also enable us to concentrate more on the business and accounting issues so as to provide value added service to your operations. In addition to accounting and advisory services he has been involved in Tax Planning, Business Consulting, Business Valuation, Business Continuance, Forensic Audits and Transaction Services.
Joozer received his CA designation in 2008 and his FCCA (UK qualification) in 2000. He started his career in 1998 with PricewaterhouseCoopers where he was involved in providing complex and high-end accounting and advisory services to a wide range of clients.
Janna Kantor
Janna has been working for small and mid-sized firms for more than 15 years. She is doing lots of assurance and non-assurance engagements for privately held businesses, non-profit and charitable organizations. In addition to that, Janna has got vast experience in tax planning for businesses and individuals. She is heavily involved in both reviewing and preparing tax returns for individuals, trusts, partnerships and corporations.
Janna received her CGA designation in 2007. In 2014 she completed the CICA’s In-Depth Tax Course. In 2016, Janna completed the CICA’s In-Depth Tax Issues for the Owner-Managed Business Course.
Nikhil Rathod
Nikhil is a key member of the assurance practice of the firm. Nikhil has over 8 years of experience in Public Accounting with a strong focus on Auditing services and financial reporting. He has a strong background in IFRS, ASPE and ASFNPO. His diverse experience in risk management, internal controls and financial reporting, has enabled him to give insightful feedback and guidance to his audit client during his long tenure in public practice. He has also had opportunities to work on special projects and assignments such as due diligence, internal audits, special reporting, agreed upon procedures and transaction advisory for variety of clients.
He started with PKF Kenya in 2006 servicing hospitals, hotels, transport, manufacturing, insurance, sporting clubs, construction, commodity distributing, packaging and shipping clients.
Nikhil holds a Bachelors’ degree in accounting from Oxford Brookes University (UK) and is currently working towards his Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) designation.
Kulwant Brar
Kulwant Brar, an employee at BASSI & KARIMJEE LLP, Chartered accountants. Has 3 years of experience in the field as part of public accounting firms. Currently pursuing his CPA designation so that he can further qualify himself in the field of accounting and taxation.
Kulwant’s is married with two children and he has an array of interests from soccer to reading. He enjoys spending his spare time with family and getting involved in his community.
Jyoti
Jyoti joined our firm in August 2020 and holds the position of Staff Accountant. She is a member of Chartered Accountants of India since 2012 and holds a bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Delhi University, India. She has significant years of experience in tax preparation, accounting services, payroll services, budgeting, and conducting audits, reviews and compilations of financial statements for small to mid-sized clients. Her honesty, integrity and professionalism are qualities many people appreciate. She has a passion to serve other people and increase her professional credentials.
She is currently enrolled as Student with CPA Ontario and has a subsequent goal of becoming CPA after clearing Common final exam.
